Moral Rot in the Digital Age: Those who Torture God’s Creatures Will Answer to the Almighty

In the quiet town of Catlin, Illinois, a 33-year-old woman named Amanda Leigh Fourez has pleaded guilty in federal court to one of the most depraved crimes imaginable: conspiring with others to create and distribute videos depicting the sexual torture and brutal killing of monkeys — including helpless babies. She and her fellow conspirators pooled thousands of dollars to commission these hellish acts from overseas, paying for monkeys to be burned alive, mutilated, crushed, drowned, and subjected to unspeakable sexual violence, all for the sick gratification of a hidden online ring.

This is not mere “animal cruelty.” It is a direct assault on the created order. Scripture is clear: “The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel” (Proverbs 12:10). God placed humanity as stewards over His creation, not tyrants to indulge every perverse fantasy. When a society tolerates or ignores the systematic torture of innocent creatures made by the hand of the Creator, it reveals a deeper spiritual sickness — a rejection of God Himself.

Fourez’s case shines a harsh light on the moral decay accelerated by our godless digital culture. Behind the anonymity of chat groups and encrypted apps, darkness flourishes. What was once confined to the shadows of the human heart now finds willing participants, financial backers, and eager distributors across state lines and oceans. This is the fruit of a society that has cast off restraint, normalized pornography in every form, and taught generations that there is no absolute truth, no final judgment, and no God who sees.

The Bible warns us repeatedly about the progression of sin. When man exchanges the truth of God for a lie, his heart darkens and his deeds become vile (Romans 1). First comes the rejection of the Creator. Then comes the worship of self and base desires. Eventually, cruelty becomes entertainment. History is littered with regimes and cultures that began by devaluing animal life only to graduate to devaluing human life. We should not be surprised. A people who will not fear God will fear nothing.

Conservatives have long argued that limited government and strong families rooted in biblical truth are essential to a decent society. Yet time and again, we see the failure of secular liberalism: it tears down moral guardrails while claiming to expand “freedom.” True liberty is not the right to indulge every depravity; it is the freedom to live as God intended — with justice, mercy, and self-control. When federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI must step in to prosecute such evil, it reminds us that law alone cannot save us. Only a return to Christ can.

Fourez now faces years in prison. We pray she repents and finds forgiveness at the foot of the cross, for no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. But her case should awaken every Christian parent, pastor, and patriot. We must protect the vulnerable — both the animals entrusted to our care and the children growing up in a world flooded with this poison. We must teach our sons and daughters the fear of the Lord. We must demand that our laws reflect biblical morality rather than the latest progressive experiment.

America cannot survive as a decent nation if we continue down this path. The blood of these innocent creatures cries out, just as Abel’s blood cried from the ground. Let this horror stir us to prayer, to vigilance, and to unashamed proclamation of the Gospel. For only when hearts are changed by Jesus Christ will such wickedness lose its grip on our land.

May God have mercy on us, and may He raise up a generation that once again honors Him as Creator and Judge.
