Outrageous Betrayal: Alcolumbre’s Cronies Gambled Away Workers’ Pensions in the Banco Master Scandal – And He’s Still Shielding the Whole Scheme
By Hotspotnews
The mask is off. Senate President Davi Alcolumbre – the man who sits at the very top of Brazil’s legislative power – has been caught with his fingerprints all over one of the most shameless thefts from public servants in recent memory. Nearly R$ 400 million of Amapá state workers’ retirement money – the life savings of teachers, nurses, police officers, and humble bureaucrats – was shoveled into the sinking ship called Banco Master. And who approved this reckless disaster? Alcolumbre’s own handpicked loyalists.
Let that sink in.
Jocildo Silva Lemos, the man Alcolumbre personally installed as director-president of Amapá Previdência (Amprev), was the ringleader. Lemos didn’t just happen to get the job – he was Alcolumbre’s 2022 campaign treasurer. He publicly thanked the senator for the plum position like a grateful servant. Together with council member José Milton Afonso Gonçalves – another Alcolumbre appointee – they rammed through approvals in less than 20 days, steamrolling every single technical warning screaming that Banco Master was insolvent, uninsured, and a walking financial time bomb.
Caixa Econômica Federal said no. The Ministry of Social Security said no. The Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) said no. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office said no. Every independent voice with expertise shouted danger. Alcolumbre’s men ignored them all and funneled hundreds of millions anyway.
And now? The Polícia Federal’s Operation Zona Cinzenta has raided their homes and offices. Search warrants, seized documents, destroyed cellphones, leaked operation details – the whole rotten playbook. Jocildo Lemos already resigned in disgrace on February 11, 2026, but not before the damage was done. The retirement fund of ordinary Amapá families is exposed, vulnerable, potentially devastated – all because political cronies treated it like petty cash for their patron’s network.
And where is Davi Alcolumbre while this scandal explodes? Still president of the Senate. Still controlling whether a real CPI ever sees the light of day. Still positioned to block impeachment proceedings, protect allies, and slow-walk justice. His own brother, Alberto Alcolumbre, sits comfortably on Amprev’s fiscal council – the very body supposed to oversee these finances – yet somehow escapes the spotlight.
This is not incompetence. This is not an “unfortunate mistake.” This is textbook crony capitalism wrapped in the robes of high office. Loyal foot soldiers get fat public jobs. Public money flows to questionable ventures that benefit insiders. When the house of cards collapses, the powerful walk away unscathed while retired teachers and sick public servants face slashed pensions.
Where is the moral outrage from Brasília’s so-called “defenders of the people”? Where are the speeches about protecting the vulnerable when the vulnerable are literally the victims here? The silence is deafening because the game is rigged – and Alcolumbre holds the cards.
Enough. The Brazilian people must demand answers now. No more closed-door deals. No more “technical” excuses. No more letting the establishment protect its own while ordinary families pay the price.
Davi Alcolumbre owes every public servant in Amapá – and every honest Brazilian – a full, transparent accounting. If he refuses, then the only honorable path left is removal from the presidency of the Senate he has so clearly abused.
The swamp isn’t just in the executive branch anymore. It’s sitting in the Senate chair, wearing a suit, and pretending this is all just politics as usual.
It isn’t. It’s theft. It’s betrayal. And it must end.
