Just in time for IAAPA, Chuck E. Cheese recently introduced one of its latest concepts in Orlando. The well-established brand has been unveiling a series of compact arcades located within hotels nationwide. The Chuck E. Cheese Fun Spot Arcade made its debut in Orlando at Marriott Village in Lake Buena Vista, adding to existing locations in Oklahoma, Texas, New York, and Connecticut. The arcade is adorned with the beloved characters from the Chuck E. Cheese universe, giving hotel guests an additional entertainment option during their vacations.
“We aim to provide guests with a taste of arcade fun so they can enjoy it before continuing with their trip,” said Tony Barron, the national VP of purchasing and games at Chuck E. Cheese. Due to limited space in most of these hotel arcades, the selection of games had to be tailored to each location. The goal is to introduce guests to the arcade experience and encourage them to visit other nearby Chuck E. Cheese locations.
Initially established in a 5,000-square-foot space in 1977 in San Jose, Calif., Chuck E. Cheese was the pioneer in offering pizza, animatronics, and indoor arcades for families. Despite facing challenges such as bankruptcy in the past, the brand has managed to bounce back and adapt to changing times. The Orlando launch marks another milestone in Chuck E. Cheese’s recovery post-pandemic, with plans to open several new locations next year.
“We observed a surge in demand for entertainment post-pandemic. People want to experience new games, technology, and offerings when they go out,” Barron explained. Chuck E. Cheese has also focused on implementing token-less options and e-tickets during the pandemic, embracing technology to enhance the guest experience.
The strategic timing and location of the arcade debut in Orlando coincided with IAAPA and the city’s numerous hotels. “Hotels are looking to provide diverse entertainment options for guests, and we are here to support that,” Barron noted. As Chuck E. Cheese completes its site remodeling project, the company is gearing up for the future by incorporating high-tech features alongside traditional attractions like trampoline parks.
“Our efforts are geared towards attracting both longtime customers and a new generation to Chuck E. Cheese. The brand has evolved significantly in the past few years, offering a more modern and appealing experience,” Barron stated.
