CATASTROPHE AT CORREIOS: Brutal Voluntary Dismissal Plan Threatens to Throw 15,000 Brazilian Families into Despair

Another Scandal as State-Owned Giant Sinks in Billion-Dollar Crisis!
    By Hotspotnews

In a shocking announcement that has sent shockwaves across Brazil, the president of the state-owned postal service Correios, Emmanoel Rondon, revealed a ruthless restructuring plan featuring a Voluntary Dismissal Program (PDV) poised to slash **up to 15,000 jobs** over the next two years – 10,000 in 2026 and another 5,000 in 2027! This represents a staggering cut of around 18% from the current workforce of approximately 83,000 dedicated employees, many of whom are the sole breadwinners for their families!

As Rondon detailed the grim package in a press conference, the nation watched in horror: Correios, once a symbol of national connectivity and reliability, is now hemorrhaging astronomical losses – over **R$ 6 billion** in the first nine months of 2025 alone, with projections of a full-year deficit hitting **R$ 10 billion**! Deficits have exploded since 2023, fueled by plunging revenues from international parcels, skyrocketing personnel costs, massive court-ordered payments, and operations buckling under outdated infrastructure and fierce private competition!

But the real nightmare looms for workers: This PDV isn’t just an “option” – it’s a veiled assault on those already enduring delayed salaries, benefit cuts, and ongoing strikes crippling the country! Unions are sounding the alarm, branding the plan a disguised attack that weakens an essential public service, paves the way for precarious outsourcing, and abandons entire communities without proper access. Closing up to 1,000 agencies in unprofitable regions? Another devastating blow to universal service that Correios is mandated to provide – leaving remote areas isolated!

The fallout will be catastrophic and immediate: Thousands of families plunged into unemployment chaos in a Brazil already reeling from economic slowdown and stubborn inflation! These are the tireless workers who deliver letters, packages, Enem exams, election ballots, and even medicines to the farthest corners – now facing eviction from their livelihoods to “balance the books” bloated by mismanagement, regulatory blunders, and competitors cherry-picking profitable routes without social obligations!

And the public service? Already plagued by record delays – with one-third of deliveries missing deadlines! – it will collapse entirely: Fewer postmen on the streets, endless queues, lost parcels, and a disconnected nation! Small businesses, e-commerce vendors, and everyday citizens will pay dearly with higher costs and slower service, while Correios chases massive loans (a fresh **R$ 12 billion** bailout secured) to plug holes instead of genuine modernization!

This is the height of irresponsibility: Sacrificing the nation’s backbone – its hardworking employees – to prop up a failing structure! Correios cannot be allowed to become a ghost: They connect the real Brazil, from bustling cities to remote villages! Enough with bloodletting cuts that destroy lives while ignoring real fixes like operational efficiency and smart partnerships!

Brazil, rise up! This PDV is a deafening wake-up call: Defend the jobs, defend essential public service! Don’t abandon 15,000 families to the abyss – demand accountability, demand a future! Workers deserve respect, not mass dismissal! Strong Correios mean a united Brazil – for the people, for the country!
