Breaking: Hope for Justice in Brazil – STF Minister Kassio Nunes Advances Bolsonaro’s Criminal Review, Challenging the Lawfare Machine

Byline: Staff Writer, Conservative Daily Hotspotnews

Brasília, May 27, 2026 – In a significant development that has ignited fresh optimism among millions of patriotic Brazilians, Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Kassio Nunes Marques has taken a decisive step toward reviewing the politically motivated conviction of former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Nunes Marques, appointed to the STF by Bolsonaro himself in 2020, was randomly selected as relator for the pedido de revisão criminal filed by the former president’s defense. Today, he formally advanced the process by ordering the Procuradoria-Geral da República (PGR), under Paulo Gonet, to submit an official opinion within 20 days. This procedural move keeps alive the fight to annul Bolsonaro’s controversial 27-year-and-3-month sentence in the so-called “trama golpista” (coup plot) case – a conviction widely viewed by conservatives as the pinnacle of judicial persecution and lawfare orchestrated by leftist forces.14

This is no ordinary legal maneuver. The defense argues compelling points: serious judicial errors, violations of due process, incomplete access to evidence, and reliance on questionable testimonies like that of Mauro Cid. Bolsonaro’s team contends the entire process was flawed from the start, denying the former leader a fair defense in a case rushed through the First Panel of the STF. By sending it to the Second Panel – which did not handle the original conviction – and placing it in the hands of a Bolsonaro-appointed minister, the case now stands a real chance of exposing the irregularities that have defined Brazil’s weaponized judiciary.15

For years, President Lula’s allies and activist judges have waged an unrelenting campaign to sideline Bolsonaro and the conservative movement that swept him to power. From endless investigations to disproportionate sentences, the goal has been clear: neutralize the right-wing leader who dared to challenge globalist agendas, defend national sovereignty, and prioritize the Brazilian people over elite interests. This 27-year sentence was never about justice – it was about eliminating a political threat ahead of future elections.

Nunes Marques’ action today sends a powerful signal. As a conservative voice on the bench, he has the opportunity to uphold the rule of law over political vendettas. While full annulment faces hurdles in a court often accused of institutional bias, even a reduction in penalty or a thorough re-examination represents a crack in the armor of those who believe they are above accountability.19

Bolsonaro supporters see this as a ray of light in the darkness of selective prosecution. With the 2026 elections looming, restoring the rights and freedom of the man who represents the hopes of tens of millions could reshape Brazil’s political landscape. The “Mito” – as his devoted base affectionately calls him – has never stopped fighting for the country, even from the sidelines imposed by these dubious convictions.

This development underscores a deeper truth: Brazil’s institutions must serve the people, not entrench power for one ideological side. True conservatives demand transparency, due process, and an end to the two-tiered justice system that punishes patriots while shielding others.

The coming weeks will be critical as the PGR responds and the review progresses. Patriots across Brazil are watching closely. The fight for justice is far from over – and today’s move proves that resilience and legal persistence can still challenge even the most entrenched powers.

Stay vigilant. The battle for Brazil’s soul continues.
