Even You, Ratinho Jr.? Master Didn’t Pick a Side — It Picked Power

OAnyone who hoped the Vorcaro scandal would be “just another left-wing case” or “just another right-wing case” needs to look again. The method was not ideological. It was relational. Consulting contracts, mediation, legal work, advertising. Dinners, trips, proximity. The banker raised tens of billions in the market and spent a sliver of that to move where the state decides, regulates, judges, and protects. Less than 1 percent of what Master raised, according to analysis published by Estadão, was enough to open doors.
That does not prove, by itself, that every contract was a crime. Temer spoke of mediation. Lewandowski, of legal consulting after leaving the Supreme Court. Meirelles, of macroeconomic advice. The Massa Group, of advertising. Those explanations exist and deserve the same scrutiny applied to every other name. The conservative point is not to lynch without evidence. It is to refuse selective benefit of the doubt.
Because the pattern is old and Brazilian: when the money comes from a scheme under investigation for fraud, money laundering, and the capture of public officials, “I rendered a service” does not close the matter. It only closes the press release. Federal Police describe Master as a criminal structure with arms for financial crime, corruption, laundering, and intimidation. Vorcaro is in prison. The bank was liquidated. In that setting, the right question is not whether the checks existed — they did; the bank declared them — but whether Brazil can treat alike the office of a justice’s wife, a former president, a former Workers’ Party finance minister, and a governor whom many on the right regarded as a cleaner piece on the board.
Ratinho Junior does not have to be turned into a convenient villain. He does have to answer with the same clarity demanded of everyone else. Being a partner in a company that took Master money is not a family trivia item. It is a political fact. Voters in Paraná have a right to know what was contracted, at what market price, and whether anything was purchased besides a TV ad for his father.
Serious conservatism does not exist to protect its own and denounce the other side. It exists to distrust concentrations of power — in the Supreme Court, in Congress, in statehouses, and in banks that buy access to all of them. If Vorcaro “softened” officials with luxury and contracts, as sources told the press, the problem is not only the banker. It is the line of important people willing to sit at the table.
Brazil will not leave this cycle by repeating the ritual: one camp shouts “captured institutions,” the other shouts “lawfare,” and in the middle the money moves. The Master list is uncomfortable precisely because it crosses party lines. That should unite anyone who claims to defend order, merit, and a limited state. Instead, each tribe may try to save the name it likes and turn the rest into campaign ammunition.
The rule has to be one rule. A contract with a bank suspected of a billion-real scheme requires full transparency, regardless of surname, former presidential sash, or 2026 stage. Whoever received money should show the work. Whoever investigates should not pick targets by affinity. Whoever calls himself conservative should not swallow his own for the sake of a family photo.
Even you, Ratinho Jr.? The question is not an insult. It is the minimum the moment requires.
