After taking office, Trump pardons 1,500 Jan. 6 defendants

President Donald Trump pardoned about 1,500 of his supporters who invaded the U.S. Capitol four years ago

After a day of ceremony, President Trump signed a series of executive actions. He did not take immediate action to raise tariffs, one of his campaign promises, but said he could impose 25% duties on Canada and Mexico by Feb. first. He signed orders increasing border security, designated drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, limited birthright citizenship, froze new regulations and created a task force to reduce the size of the federal government. He also rescinded 75 directives issued by Biden, including those related to climate change, and declared the official genders in the US, Male and female, transgenders are no longer recognized as a gender.
Trump said that walking back into the Oval Office after his inauguration was “one of the best feelings I’ve ever had.” Unlike during his first term, when new staff members scrambled to figure out what exactly their president was trying to achieve, Trump moved rapidly and methodically to advance his Monday’s agenda.
One of the President’s first action upon arriving at the White House was pardoning about 1,500 people charged in connection with the Jan. 6 event. Trump commuted the sentences of another 14 people, including leaders of the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys. President Trump described them as “hostages” and said he expected them to be freed shortly.

In his inaugural address, President Trump declared the beginning of “the complete restoration of America and the revolution of common sense.”

President Trump said the government faces “a crisis of trust.” I have “a mandate to completely and totally reverse a horrible betrayal,” promising to “give the people back their faith, their wealth, their democracy and indeed their freedom.”

Nobody can take away his right to say what he says or even criticize a man who has been, lied to, persecuted, investigated and accused of as many crimes as the opposition could create. Nobody could have his resilience and be victorious as he is. Today America had the chance to salute the President they chose and just that, is a reason to celebrate. Welcome President Trump!
