America First Energy Victory: Historic Venezuela Oil Accord More Than Doubles U.S. Reserves at Zero Taxpayer Cost

    By Hotspotnews

President Donald Trump announced Friday that the United States has secured majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of proven Venezuelan oil reserves in what he called the biggest oil deal in world history. The agreement, negotiated at his direction by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth with Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodríguez and private-sector partners, comes at no cost to American taxpayers.

Trump stated the transaction more than doubles U.S. oil reserves, expands domestic supply, and will substantially lower gasoline prices for American families for years to come. A White House official described the structure as giving the United States 55 percent effective output from a new private joint venture granted 100-year concessions on the fields. That venture is positioned to become one of the world’s largest private oil companies by reserves. The U.S. share includes both equity and guaranteed at-cost oil that can replenish the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and support military needs.

This matters because energy security is national security. Venezuela holds the world’s largest proven crude reserves—roughly 303 billion barrels—yet production has collapsed after years of mismanagement and underinvestment. After the removal of Nicolás Maduro earlier this year, the new interim government opened the sector to private investment. American companies and U.S. government participation now stand to capture a dominant position in the Western Hemisphere rather than leaving those resources to competitors such as China.

Rubio called the deal a huge win for both countries, projecting nearly $100 billion in private investment, thousands of high-paying jobs, and reconstruction of Venezuela’s economy. For the United States the immediate benefits are practical: greater control over a stable, nearby source of heavy crude that U.S. Gulf Coast refineries are already designed to process, reduced reliance on distant or hostile suppliers, and downward pressure on pump prices at a time when the Strategic Petroleum Reserve has fallen to levels not seen in decades.

Critics will focus on the heavy, extra-heavy nature of much of Venezuela’s crude and the massive capital required to restore production. Those challenges are real. The agreement itself does not instantly deliver 65 billion barrels to American markets. It does, however, lock in long-term U.S. influence over a resource base that was previously slipping toward rival powers. Combined with domestic production and private-sector execution, it represents a decisive shift toward hemispheric energy dominance.

The announcement aligns with a consistent America First approach: use diplomacy and private capital rather than taxpayer subsidies, prioritize U.S. consumers and industry, and treat energy as a strategic asset instead of a political liability. If executed, the deal strengthens the U.S. economy, supports lower energy costs for working families, and helps stabilize a neighboring country after two decades of socialist decline.
