Betrayal on the Right: Silas Malafaia, the Snake Biting Its Own Movement
By Hotspotnews
It is absolutely outrageous to witness yet another chapter in the saga of betrayals plaguing Brazil’s right-wing scene. Silas Malafaia, the pastor who for years sold himself as the great defender of Bolsonarism, the “strong man” of evangelical churches standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Jair Bolsonaro, has now shown his true colors: those of a slimy, opportunistic snake who doesn’t hesitate to sink his fangs into the backs of those who once lifted him to the prominence he enjoys today.
In a recent interview with **Contexto Metrópoles**, Malafaia shamelessly doubled down on his preference for a 2026 presidential ticket led by São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos) with Michelle Bolsonaro as vice president. He boldly declared that this would be “the best ticket to defeat Lula,” emphasizing Michelle’s “violent capillarity” among evangelicals, women, and northeastern voters. And what about Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, the name handpicked by former President Jair Bolsonaro himself to carry the right’s banner? Malafaia dismisses him with contempt, claiming he lacks “political muscle” and suffers from “amateurism”—words that echo his old criticisms but now land like direct stabs at the Bolsonaro family.
This isn’t legitimate political opinion. This is blatant **treason**! Malafaia met with Flávio Bolsonaro just a day earlier, had a long conversation ahead of the Avenida Paulista rally, posed for photos, and even received public praise from the senator—who called him a “professor” and highlighted his “courageous stance” as an inspiration for Bolsonaristas. Yet the very next day, he goes on air to endorse another candidacy, undermining the very family and movement that gave him his platform.
What could be more disgusting than this level of cynicism? Malafaia, who built his influence on the evangelical base mobilized by Jair Bolsonaro, now appoints himself as a self-proclaimed kingmaker, trying to sideline the chosen successor while dreaming of greater sway in a potential Tarcísio administration—or simply to remain relevant as the puppet master pulling strings. He knows the immense power he holds over millions of conservative evangelicals, and he’s weaponizing it to push his personal agenda, perhaps cozying up to centrão figures in the process.
The Brazilian right cannot tolerate this kind of vile behavior any longer. We must sever ties with figures who prioritize ego, ambition, and shady alliances over loyalty to the movement born in the streets in 2013 and crowned with Bolsonaro’s victory in 2018. Malafaia is no longer an ally—he is an internal threat, a snake feeding on the very base that sustained him.
True Bolsonaristas, wake up! Don’t let opportunistic pastors, egomaniacal influencers, and false prophets destroy the unity that remains our only real chance against Lula and the left in these elections. Expel these traitors from our ranks. The right needs loyal leaders, not serpents disguised as shepherds. Brazil can’t afford any more manufactured divisions by those who profit from chaos.
Enough with the betrayal! Out with Malafaia! The real right stands with Bolsonaro, with Flávio, and with the family that has never abandoned the people. Those who divide, weaken—and those who weaken hand the country over to the left. We will not allow it! 🇧🇷
