I would like to salute the President Trump
@realDonaldTrump
For his historic inauguration and for his powerful speech, which echoes the values that sustain our civilization and that are the heart of human life: God, country, family and freedom. – Due to the brutal judicial persecution that I have faced, along with millions of Brazilians who dare to fight for freedom, I was unable to attend the inauguration in person, despite the honorable invitation to represent the Brazilian opposition on this great day.
Even so, I followed every moment with attention and conviction, certain that Donald Trump’s return to the White House marks not only a triumph for the American people, but also a breath of hope for the world, including for our Brazil, today weakened by a vacillating government, by an increasingly interventionist State and by an authoritarianism that threatens our fundamental freedoms. – I say this with full conviction: the United States, under Trump’s leadership, will once again be a beacon of freedom, democracy and popular sovereignty. And this renews our hope that from now on, no enemy of freedom, internal or external, inside or outside the United States, will find fertile ground to thrive. – I would also like to congratulate President Donald Trump for his willingness to confront the great threats that loom over free nations. Among them, I would highlight the growing influence of authoritarian superpowers in our Hemisphere and the constant attacks on freedom of expression, free debate and social media — fundamental elements for the flourishing of our societies.
Here in Brazil, our work towards these same goals have been interrupted, but will soon be resumed with God’s help. – Like President Trump, I believe that strengthening our borders, combating organized crime, restoring impartiality to the judiciary and rescuing traditional values are indispensable pillars to protect our nations against everything that prevents them from prospering. – Brazil and the United States share more than a strategic alliance: we are heirs to a legacy that places human life and God above the State and political ideologies. – Unfortunately, those who govern our country today are trying to distance it from the free world and bring it closer to dictatorships like those in Venezuela and Nicaragua, and to terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. But this will change, because our people are increasingly aware that this fight to preserve our values is more than a political choice; it is a moral and historic duty for all of us.
Together, we can confront the forces that seek to rewrite our history, fragment our families and steal the future of our next generations. – Under Trump’s leadership, the West is being reborn. May this new era mark a renewed commitment among friends of freedom in the United States and Brazil to defend and promote life, our traditions and the Christian values common to our peoples. – May God bless President Donald Trump, the American nation and all those who stand up for freedom, for the right to dream and for the truth that transcends time and borders. May God bless, above all, our Brazil and give the Brazilian people the discernment and resilience necessary to put the country back on track, in defense of what is good, just and honorable.
Jair Messias Bolsonaro
