Brazilian Tyrant Alexandre de Moraes no show fiasco in US court

Brazilian Tyrant Alexandre de Moraes Dodges U.S. Court Showdown as Free Speech Lawsuit Advances

In a significant victory for American sovereignty and the First Amendment, Brazil’s authoritarian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes is facing the consequences of his global censorship crusade—without the full backing of his own government. As U.S.-based platforms Rumble and Trump Media push back against foreign judicial overreach, Moraes’ latest maneuver reveals the cracks in his campaign to silence critics beyond Brazil’s borders.

The case, filed in February 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, accuses Moraes of issuing extraterritorial orders that suspend accounts of Brazilian conservatives, journalists, and dissidents on American soil. These directives, which demand the removal of content critical of the leftist Lula da Silva regime, represent a blatant assault on free expression protected by the U.S. Constitution. Rumble, a platform long committed to uncensored discourse, and Trump Media, the parent of Truth Social, rightly argue that no foreign judge has the authority to impose Brazilian-style speech controls on American companies and users.

In a telling development, Brazil’s Attorney General’s Office (AGU) rushed a last-minute motion as the deadline for Moraes’ personal response loomed. Crucially, the filing explicitly states that it represents only the Brazilian government—not the rogue justice himself. This strategic distancing underscores a uncomfortable reality: even within Brazil’s fractured institutions, Moraes’ personal vendetta against free speech is becoming a liability. The government appears unwilling to fully endorse his one-man war on dissent, leaving him exposed in American court.

Moraes has earned a notorious reputation as Brazil’s digital dictator. Appointed to the Supreme Court, he has weaponized his position to censor political opponents, ban accounts en masse, and fine platforms into submission—all under the guise of combating “disinformation” and “threats to democracy.” Sound familiar? It’s the same playbook used by globalist elites worldwide who view open debate as a danger rather than a cornerstone of liberty. From jailing critics to ordering the suspension of entire social media profiles, Moraes embodies the authoritarian impulse that conservatives have long warned against: the fusion of judicial power with ideological enforcement.

This lawsuit is more than a legal skirmish—it’s a stand for American exceptionalism. The United States must not become a playground for foreign judges seeking to export their repressive tactics. Allowing Moraes’ orders to stand unchallenged would set a dangerous precedent, inviting other regimes to target U.S. platforms and citizens who dare speak truth to power. Platforms like Rumble and Trump Media, which prioritize user freedom over Silicon Valley-style narrative control, deserve robust legal protection against such intimidation.

The timing could not be more symbolic. As the Biden-Harris era’s lingering influences on Big Tech fade and pro-freedom voices gain ground, this case highlights the ongoing global battle between sovereignty and supranational censorship. Conservatives understand that true democracy thrives on robust debate, not top-down edicts from black-robed activists. Moraes’ evasion through a narrow government filing only emboldens those fighting for transparency and accountability.

As the Florida court proceeds, the message to the world should be clear: American soil, American laws, American freedoms. Foreign tyrants like Alexandre de Moraes have no jurisdiction here. This case offers hope that the rule of law—and the God-given right to free speech—will prevail against judicial imperialism. The American people, and platforms brave enough to defend them, are watching closely.
