Globo Reporter Asks Trump About The Relationship Between The US And Brazil, And Republican Answers Harshly

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Monday that Brazil and Latin America need “more from the US than the US needs them”. The statement was made during the signing of the first Executive Orders  in the Oval Office at the White House.

When asked by journalists about what the relationship with Brazil and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva would be like, Trump replied: “They need us. We don’t need them. Everyone needs us.” Then he insisted: “The relationship is excellent. They need us, much more than we need them.

President Trump also addressed Brazil’s recent proposal, as Brics presidency, to use local currencies for international trade, something he considers a threat to the dollar. “There’s no way to do that, they’ll give up,” assured the president of the United States.

The issue of the war in Ukraine was also raised, with the president being asked about Brazil’s involvement in negotiations to end the conflict. Trump was surprised by the information and said: “This is good. I’m ready. How did Brazil get involved in this? It’s new to me, I don’t know how Brazil got involved.”

In reality the only involvement was Lula saying he would solve the situation having a beer with them. Then he made other suggestion that we’re not even worth considering by any of the parties. Nothing of significance came out of it.

Earlier, Lula manifested in a post on social media, his wishes for the success to the Republican. He stated that the relations between both countries are “marked by a trajectory of cooperation, based on mutual respect and historical friendship”.

President Lula had declared, support for Kamala Harris’ candidacy as Trump’s political opponent, and criticized the Republican, saying that his victory would be a return to “Nazism and fascism with another face”. In a recent ministerial meeting, Lula also reinforced his position in defense of democracy, stating that in 2026, Brazil needs to elect a government committed to the democratic process and warning of the dangers of “neofascism, neo-Nazism and authoritarianism”.

Lula is an embarrassment, a step back for Brazil. Excessive spending, scandals, and lack of common sense. President Trump knows. Nothing new. Brazilians need to choose better.
