Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost, hails from Chicago, Illinois, and is a member of the Order of Saint Augustine, a religious order known for its commitment to community life and pastoral service. His election marks a historic milestone as the first American to ascend to the papacy in the Catholic Church’s 2,000-year history. Prevost’s journey to the papacy began with his ordination as a priest in 1975, followed by decades of service that showcased his dedication to traditional Catholic values and administrative prowess.
