Troops in Los Angeles: A Necessary Response to Protect Law and Order

    By Hotspotorlando News

In a bold and decisive move, President Donald Trump has authorized the deployment of 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 active-duty Marines to Los Angeles to safeguard federal property and personnel amid escalating protests over U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. This action, rooted in the President’s constitutional duty to uphold law and order, sends a clear message: the United States will not tolerate chaos or violence under the guise of protest. As conservatives, we must applaud this commitment to protecting our nation’s sovereignty and the rule of law.

    ### The Context: Enforcing Immigration Laws
The protests erupted on June 6, 2025, following ICE operations in Los Angeles targeting illegal immigrants in areas like Compton and Paramount. These raids, which detained 44 individuals, are part of President Trump’s broader pledge to secure our borders and enforce immigration laws that have been flouted for decades. The outrage from left-leaning activists and California’s Democrat leadership ignores a simple truth: illegal immigration undermines our economy, strains public resources, and disrespects the millions who pursue legal pathways to citizenship.

Yet, instead of supporting these lawful efforts, protesters have resorted to violence—throwing rocks, torching self-driving cars, and blocking freeways. This is not free speech; it is anarchy. The deployment of troops, authorized under Title 10 of the U.S. Code, is a direct response to this “danger of rebellion” against federal authority. Far from overreach, it is a measured step to protect ICE agents and federal buildings from mob rule.O

    California’s Misguided Opposition

California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have predictably cried foul, labeling the deployment “unlawful” and “immoral.” Their rhetoric is not only hyperbolic but also dangerously dismissive of the federal government’s right to protect its personnel and enforce its laws. Newsom’s lawsuit against the Trump administration, claiming a violation of state sovereignty, is a tired tactic from a state that has long prioritized sanctuary policies over national security. His refusal to cooperate with ICE and his criticism of the National Guard’s presence only embolden those who seek to undermine our immigration system.

The hypocrisy is stark. California Democrats demand federal aid during wildfires or economic crises but recoil when federal authority is exercised to uphold the law. As conservatives, we recognize that states cannot cherry-pick when to respect the Constitution. President Trump’s decision to federalize the National Guard without Newsom’s approval is both legal and necessary, as Title 10 allows such action in cases of national urgency. The protests, while smaller than the 1992 riots, pose a real threat to federal operations, and inaction would only embolden further lawlessness.

A Stand for Law and Order
The deployment of 700 Marines from Twentynine Palms alongside 4,000 National Guard troops is a testament to President Trump’s resolve. These brave men and women are not there to suppress free speech but to ensure that federal agents can do their jobs without fear of violence. The Left’s attempt to paint this as “authoritarianism” is a distraction from their own failure to condemn the violent elements within the protests. Spitting on law enforcement, burning property, and disrupting public safety are not protests—they are crimes.

Moreover, this action reflects the will of the American people. A CBS News/YouGov poll from early June 2025 shows 54% of Americans support President Trump’s deportation policies. The silent majority is tired of open borders, unchecked crime, and the erosion of our national identity. By deploying troops, the President is fulfilling his promise to prioritize American citizens and restore order in a city plagued by progressive policies that have fueled crime and homelessness.

    Historical Precedent and Prudence
Critics point to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, where 9,800 National Guard troops and 3,500 federal troops were deployed, as evidence that the current response is disproportionate. But this comparison misses the mark. The 1992 riots were a reaction to a singular event—the Rodney King verdict—while today’s protests are a coordinated backlash against lawful immigration enforcement. Waiting for violence to spiral further, as it did in 1992 with 63 deaths, would be irresponsible. President Trump’s proactive approach prevents a repeat of such devastation.

The use of active-duty Marines, while rare, is justified given the targeted nature of the threat to federal personnel. Unlike the Insurrection Act, which would grant broader law enforcement powers, Title 10 limits the troops’ role to protecting federal assets. This restraint shows the administration’s commitment to balancing security with civil liberties—a nuance lost on critics like Newsom and Bass.

    The Bigger Picture
The deployment in Los Angeles is more than a response to local unrest; it is a stand against the broader leftist agenda to dismantle our borders and excuse lawlessness. President Trump, alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Border Czar Tom Homan, understands that unchecked protests in one city can inspire chaos nationwide. Indeed, demonstrations have already spread to cities like New York and San Francisco. Allowing this to fester would undermine the very fabric of our republic.

Conservatives must rally behind this decision, recognizing it as a defense of the principles we hold dear: the rule of law, national sovereignty, and the safety of our communities. The alternative—capitulating to mobs and sanctuary state policies—would betray the American people and embolden those who seek to erode our nation from within.

President Trump’s deployment of troops to Los Angeles is a courageous and necessary step to protect federal authority and restore order. In the face of violent protests and California’s obstructionism, this action reaffirms that no one is above the law—not illegal immigrants, not rioters, and not defiant state officials. As conservatives, we stand with the President, the National Guard, and the Marines as they uphold the values that make America great. Let this be a reminder: law and order will prevail.
