BESSIAS JUST ANOTHER HEAD FOR THE STF SERPENT

Bessias: Another Head of the STF Serpent Devouring Brazil’s Freedom

    By Hotspotnews

In the murky corridors of Brazilian power, a new threat slithers toward the pinnacle of the judiciary. Jorge Messias, mockingly known as “Bessias” for good reason, stands poised for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Federal Court (STF). This is not merit ascending; it is political patronage masquerading as justice. Lula da Silva’s handpicked Attorney General, a loyal foot soldier of the Workers’ Party (PT) machine, represents yet another head of the hydra that is the activist STF — a monster that has systematically dismantled checks and balances, shielded corrupt allies, and advanced a leftist agenda eroding Brazil’s sovereignty, free speech, and rule of law.

The scandal surrounding Messias dates back to 2007, when he secured his entry into the elite ranks of the National Treasury Attorney’s Office through a blatant circumvention of public contest rules. In a competitive examination offering roughly 27 vacancies, Messias placed a dismal 86th. Under Brazil’s constitutional mandate for strict merit-based appointments, that should have been the end of it. Instead, a joint ministerial order signed by then-Finance Minister Guido Mantega and current STF Minister Dias Toffoli magically elevated him and other low-ranked candidates. Official government gazette records from November 2007 reveal the maneuver: candidates were “repositioned” at the tail end of an approved list, bypassing higher-placed competitors in what critics rightly decry as a rigged favoritism scheme. This was no administrative oversight — it was a calculated insertion of PT-aligned operatives into strategic positions of power.

Messias was no neutral bureaucrat. He served as a trusted aide to Dilma Rousseff, acting as her “estafeta” — errand boy — during her presidency. His rapid ascent through the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) under PT governments reeks of ideological loyalty over legal competence. Now, Lula wants to reward this faithful servant with a robe on the STF, where he can join the chorus of ministers who have twisted the Constitution to favor censorship, political persecution, and the endless protection of leftist icons.

Brazil is already plagued by this judicial serpent. The STF has morphed from guardian of the law into an unelected super-government. It has censored journalists and citizens, meddled in elections, invented new “crimes” to target conservatives, and shielded figures entangled in corruption scandals. Toffoli himself — co-signer of that dubious 2007 order — now sits on the Court, a living symbol of how the system rewards its own. Appointing Bessias would add another coil to this strangling apparatus, further entrenching the PT’s “aparelhamento” — the colonization of state institutions by party loyalists.

Conservatives and patriotic Brazilians have every right to demand accountability. As the Senate prepares for Messias’ confirmation hearing, senators must grill him relentlessly on the 2007 irregularities. How does a man who benefited from such a questionable shortcut claim impartiality on the highest court? Why should Brazilians trust another PT operative to defend individual liberties when his career was built on bending rules for the powerful?

This nomination is not about judicial excellence. It is about consolidating control — ensuring the STF remains a compliant tool for advancing socialist policies that crush economic freedom, traditional values, and democratic dissent. From endless lawfare against Jair Bolsonaro and his supporters to the weaponization of “fake news” inquiries that silence opposition voices, the pattern is unmistakable.

Brazil cannot afford another head on this serpent. The Senate must reject Jorge Messias and send a clear message: the era of unaccountable judicial activism and PT insider appointments is under scrutiny. True justice demands merit, not loyalty to the machine. The future of Brazilian liberty hangs in the balance.
