Brazil Stands Up: A Victorious September 7 and the Growing Chorus of “Fora Moraes”

    By Hotspotnews

On September 7, 2026, Brazilians did what patriots do on Independence Day. They took to the streets not merely to wave flags, but to defend the country from judicial overreach and political capture. Across more than a dozen capitals, from Brasília to Belo Horizonte, Goiânia, Recife and especially São Paulo’s Avenida Paulista, the message was unmistakable: Fora Lula. Fora Moraes.

The largest gathering took place on Paulista Avenue, where Senator Flávio Bolsonaro and allied conservative leaders addressed tens of thousands of supporters. Independent estimates put the peak crowd at around 28,500. That number matters less than the energy and clarity of purpose. Families in green and yellow, veterans, young people, and religious leaders stood together under a simple demand: the Supreme Court must be protected from Alexandre de Moraes.

Moraes has become the most polarizing figure in Brazilian public life. His investigations, speech restrictions, and relentless pursuit of political opponents have left millions convinced that one justice now acts as investigator, prosecutor, and judge. The latest revelations—messages involving banker Daniel Vorcaro and questions surrounding a large contract with Moraes’ wife’s law firm—gave the protests new urgency. Justice André Mendonça’s decision to bring those facts into the open was widely praised in the crowds as a rare act of institutional courage.

Flávio Bolsonaro struck the right conservative note. He did not attack the Supreme Court as an institution. He attacked the man he called a “rotten orange” who risks contaminating the entire court. He promised that, if elected, he would appoint justices committed to the Constitution, life, family, and public safety—not to personal vendettas. That distinction is important. Conservatives want a strong, independent judiciary, not a politicized one.

The protests were peaceful, patriotic, and nationwide. In Brasília they occurred in parallel with the official parade, a visual reminder that the people and the political class are not always in the same place. Yellow shirts, Brazilian flags, and banners calling for impeachment filled plazas and avenues. Support for Mendonça appeared alongside the “Fora Moraes” signs, showing that this is not anti-institution rage but a demand for accountability.

Mainstream coverage will downplay the turnout and emphasize that it fell short of some organizers’ hopes. That is predictable. What they cannot dismiss is the political reality: the Moraes issue has given the opposition a clear, resonant cause weeks before the election. It has unified different strands of the right around the defense of due process, free speech, and the separation of powers.

September 7 2026 was not the largest demonstration in recent Brazilian history. It was something more useful: a focused, disciplined, and morally confident assertion that no single minister stands above the law. The Brazilian people showed they still remember what independence actually means.
