Florida is continuously setting new tourism records, establishing itself as a popular destination. Governor Ron DeSantis recently declared that Florida remains the top travel spot in the country, breaking visitation records once again in the third quarter of 2024.
Initial calculations suggest that 34.6 million individuals visited the Sunshine State, showing a 1.8% increase from the same period in 2023, making it the highest visitation on record for a third quarter. The surge in visitation was driven by 31.8 million domestic visitors, 2.3 million international visitors, and 582,000 visitors from Canada.
This marks the third straight quarter of record-breaking visitation in Florida, demonstrating ongoing growth in both domestic and international travel. The first three quarters of 2024 indicate a rise of 2 million visitors compared to the same timeframe in 2023.
“The Sunshine State of Florida continues to shatter tourism records,” stated Republican Governor Ron DeSantis. “It showcases our successful approach, and we will persist in managing our state with practicality, financial responsibility, environmental care, and a love for freedom.”
“The dedication and perseverance of Floridians have been crucial in maintaining the strength of our tourism sector, highlighting the finest aspects of our state,” said Dana Young, President & CEO of VISIT FLORIDA. “Governor DeSantis’ leadership has positioned Florida as a prime destination for travelers, and the continuous record-breaking tourism figures reflect that.”
