Washington’s Most Exclusive Club: Brazilian Leftists Meet Premier America First Rejects

    By Hotspotnews

In what can only be described as the diplomatic equivalent of a support group for people still bitter about November 2024, a crack team of Brazilian government allies jetted off to Washington this week for a high-stakes summit. Their mission? Apparently to save Brazilian democracy by chatting with the very Democrats who couldn’t stop Donald Trump if their careers depended on it.

Front and center in the now-viral photo: Brazil’s own dynamic duo of outrage, André Janones (the man who bravely declared Flávio Bolsonaro’s “days are counted” while posing in a random congressional broom closet) and Jandira Feghali, joined by their travel buddies Pedro Uczai and Pedro Campos. These four intrepid defenders of the Lula administration gathered with the only Americans willing to clear their schedules on short notice: the B-team of progressive Democrats who spent the last few years watching their influence evaporate faster than a tariff exemption.

Leading the reject roster was Rep. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts — a man so influential in the current Washington that he might as well be handing out participation trophies in an empty hearing room. Beside him, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, whose foreign policy clout is legendary among… well, herself and a few staffers. Then there’s Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García, ever the passionate voice for whatever progressive cause hasn’t been laughed out of the House yet. And of course, the star attraction: Rep. Ilhan Omar, bringing her trademark blend of revolutionary rhetoric and zero legislative results to the table.

What a power meeting! The Brazilian leftists, fresh from a government that’s currently dodging tariffs and awkward questions about crime syndicates, huddled with the American leftists who spent years promising to reshape the world — only to get absolutely steamrolled by the America First agenda. No Trump officials. No Republican committee chairs. No one with even a whisper of actual power in 2026 Washington. Just four Brazilian deputies and four Democratic lawmakers bonding over shared irrelevance and mutual disdain for “strongmen” who actually win elections.

Sources close to the meeting (probably Janones’ own Twitter feed) say they discussed “democracy” and “sovereignty” — code for “please don’t let Trump impose tariffs” and “how dare you talk to the Bolsonaro family.” The Brazilians delivered their important dossier. The Americans nodded solemnly. Everyone felt very validated. Mission accomplished.

Meanwhile, in the real corridors of power, the Trump administration continues doing what it does best: ignoring photo-ops like this one. But hey, at least the left has each other. In these trying times of actual governance and border security, sometimes you just need a room full of fellow travelers to remind yourselves that you’re still the good guys. Even if nobody outside your bubble is listening.

Truly, a historic gathering for the ages. Or at least for the next 24-hour news cycle in Brazilian WhatsApp groups. Well played, comrades. Well played.
