Tourist paradise: meet the safest capital in Brazil in 2024
In the public security scenario in Brazil, Florianópolis has stood out as the safest capital in the country. In 2024, this city leaded the security ranking, as it was pointed out by the yearbook Safer Cities in Brazil, promoted by the company MySide based on data from IBGE and the Ministry of Health. With a rate of 10 fatal victims per 100,000 inhabitants in 2023, the capital presents itself as an example of efficiency in urban security.
Compared to other capitals, Florianópolis maintains a favorable position, with São Paulo registering 11.8 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants and occupying the second position. Brasília is in third place with a rate of 14.3. These numbers highlight the city as a reference in security in the national context.
Despite its prominent national position, Florianópolis is not the safest city in Santa Catarina. Cities such as Jaraguá do Sul, Blumenau and Brusque surpass it in terms of security. Jaraguá do Sul, for example, disagrees nationally, ranked as the fifth safest city in Brazil, right after São Paulo cities such as Sertãozinho and Valinhos.
