Neymar Scores The First Goal after his Return To Santos by Penalty Against Água Santa
This Sunday, Neymar scored his first goal since returning to Santos, sealing a 2-0 victory over Água Santa, in Vila Belmiro, for the tenth round of the Paulista Championship. The goal came from a penalty, after a play with the Venezuelan Soteldo, which resulted in the foul inside the area.
At the time of the charge, striker Guilherme took the ball to hit the penalty, but was promptly captivated by the fans, who asked Neymar to take responsibility. The number 10 did not hesitate and, with a low kick in the goalkeeper’s right corner, scored the first goal of the match, taking the ball out of the opponent’s hands.
With Neymar’s score, Santos took the lead of Group B at the Paulista Championship with 13 points, surpassing Guarani, Portuguesa and Bragantino. This was Neymar’s first goal for Santos since 2013, when he last scored in Vila Belmiro, against Flamengo-PI, in the Copa do Brasil.
The striker, who had not yet recorded assists on his return to the club, has shown an evolution in his physical form, although he admitted that he needs a few more games to reach his best condition. This was Neymar’s fourth game since he returned to Santos, where, in his first passage between 2009 and 2013, he scored 138 goals in 225 official matches.
In addition to Neymar’s goal, Santos extended the score at 25 minutes of the first half with Thaciano, guaranteeing the three points and another important victory in the state tournament.
