Outrage in Brazil: Bolsonaro’s House Arrest Is a Blatant Witch Hunt
By Laiz Rodrigues
The Brazilian people are witnessing a grotesque spectacle of political persecution as former President Jair Bolsonaro, a steadfast champion of conservative values, has been slapped with house arrest, an ankle monitor, and a social media gag order. This is no mere legal proceeding—it’s a calculated assault on freedom, democracy, and the will of millions who supported Bolsonaro’s vision for a strong, sovereign Brazil.
The Supreme Court, led by the iron-fisted Justice Alexandre de Moraes, claims Bolsonaro is a “flight risk” in a trial accusing him of plotting a coup after the 2022 election loss to leftist Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. A coup? The charge is as absurd as it is sinister. Bolsonaro, a man who served his nation with unwavering patriotism, handed over power peacefully, yet now faces decades in prison for crimes he vehemently denies. This is not justice—it’s a vendetta.
The ankle monitor, a humiliating shackle, is a symbol of the establishment’s desperation to silence a leader who dared challenge their grip on power. Banning him from social media and contact with foreign officials, including his own son, Eduardo, is a chilling move to isolate him from the global stage and his supporters. The court’s paranoia about Bolsonaro fleeing is laughable—he’s repeatedly declared his love for Brazil and his intent to stay and fight. Yet, they treat him like a common criminal, raiding his home and seizing personal funds, all while the Biden administration’s allies cheer from afar.
This isn’t about law; it’s about crushing dissent. Moraes, with his history of censoring conservative voices and even tangling with Elon Musk over free speech, is the ringleader of a judicial crusade against Brazil’s right wing. The timing reeks of coordination—U.S. tariffs and visa bans on Brazilian judges, pushed by Bolsonaro’s ally Donald Trump, have only fueled the court’s wrath. They’re punishing Bolsonaro for his international support and his refusal to bow to the globalist agenda.
The Brazilian left, emboldened by Lula’s narrow victory, is terrified of Bolsonaro’s enduring popularity. His base, millions strong, sees through this charade. They know the 2022 election was a battleground of distrust, with Bolsonaro’s warnings about voting irregularities dismissed as conspiracy. Now, the same system that ignored those concerns wants to lock him away to prevent a 2026 comeback. It’s a playbook straight out of authoritarian regimes: neutralize the opposition, control the narrative, and demonize the people’s choice.
Conservatives across Brazil and beyond should be outraged. This is not just an attack on Bolsonaro but on every citizen who values liberty, sovereignty, and the right to question a corrupt establishment. The house arrest, the ankle tag, the silencing—these are tactics of oppression, not justice. Bolsonaro’s fight is our fight. If they can do this to a former president, what’s to stop them from coming for anyone who dares speak out?
The Brazilian people must rally. They must demand transparency, reject this judicial overreach, and stand with a leader who put Brazil first. Bolsonaro is not a criminal; he’s a patriot under siege. The world is watching, and history will judge those who let this travesty unfold. Enough is enough—free Bolsonaro, and let the people’s voice be heard!
