Shocking Transparency: Brazil’s Central Bank Declares All Chats with Supreme Court Justice “Super Secret”

    By Hotspotnews

In a move that absolutely no one saw coming from the bastion of open governance that is modern Brazil, the Central Bank has bravely decided to classify every single communication it ever had with Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes as strictly confidential. Because, you know, when you’re liquidating a bank and hiring the justice’s wife’s law firm for a cool R$129 million in “advisory services,” the last thing you want is pesky transparency getting in the way.

Who could have predicted this? Certainly not the taxpayers footing the bill, nor the Court of Accounts (TCU) currently scratching its head over whether this whole Banco Master affair smells a bit off. But fear not, citizens! The Central Bank has assured us there’s zero chance of reversing the liquidation—while simultaneously slamming the door on any Freedom of Information requests that might let the public peek behind the curtain.

It’s almost as if there’s something to hide. Perish the thought!

Critics—those radical extremists who believe in silly concepts like accountability—are apparently whining about a “republic of secrecy.” How dare they question the impeccable judgment of institutions that routinely shield their dealings with powerful judges from scrutiny? Next thing you know, they’ll want to know why a small bank’s collapse required such lavish legal expertise from, of all places, the family firm of the very justice overseeing so many critical national matters.

Truly, this is peak democracy in action: Move fast, spend big, classify everything, and let the little people wonder what just happened. One can only stand in awe at the sheer commitment to openness. Bravo, Central Bank. You’ve outdone yourselves again.
