The Betrayal of Basic principles: Constantino’s Lack of Loyalty to the Brazilian Right

    By Hotspotnews

In the brutal arena of Brazilian politics, where the left has long mastered the art of division and destruction, one would expect those on the right to stand shoulder to shoulder against the common enemy. Yet recent events reveal a glaring failure at the heart of conservative circles: a profound absence of loyalty, honor, and simple human decency. At the center of this disgrace is commentator Rodrigo Constantino, whose actions toward Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro expose not just personal pettiness, but a deeper rot that threatens to undermine the entire movement.

Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of the imprisoned former president Jair Bolsonaro, reached out in a private phone call. He sought genuine dialogue, airing frustrations and perspectives in a humble attempt to bridge differences within the right-wing camp. This was no ambush or public spectacle—it was a direct, respectful effort to resolve tensions behind closed doors, precisely the kind of mature conduct that many voices on the right have long demanded. “Talk privately, don’t escalate publicly,” has been the recurring refrain from those weary of infighting.

Constantino’s response? He abruptly hung up the call and then rushed to broadcast Eduardo’s private expressions to the world. What should have remained a confidential exchange between allies became public fodder for gossip and division. This wasn’t an act of principled disagreement; it was a blatant breach of trust. In any functional political alliance, loyalty isn’t optional—it’s the glue that holds disparate voices together against a far more dangerous foe. By violating that basic expectation, Constantino didn’t just embarrass himself; he signaled that personal ego and fleeting media attention trump collective survival.

This episode reeks of disloyalty on multiple levels. Eduardo extended an olive branch amid ongoing strains, including debates around figures like Nikolas Ferreira and broader strategic alignments for the future. Flávio Bolsonaro has publicly emphasized unity, praising various players while keeping focus on defeating the PT machine. Yet Constantino’s move actively sabotages that spirit. It fuels unnecessary rifts at a time when the right desperately needs cohesion to mount any credible challenge. Hanging up and then weaponizing private words isn’t debate—it’s sabotage dressed up as commentary.

Worse still, it reveals a profound character flaw. True leaders and influencers in conservative circles understand that honor and “hombridade” (manliness in the best sense) demand discretion when someone approaches in good faith. Exposing a private desabafo (outpouring) for clicks or clout demonstrates the opposite: a willingness to prioritize self over cause. Constantino’s behavior doesn’t strengthen the movement against Lula’s PT or advance any serious agenda. It weakens everyone—Flávio’s potential path forward, Nikolas’s role, Jair Bolsonaro’s legacy while he remains unjustly imprisoned, and the broader fight for Brazil’s soul.

The Brazilian right has enough external enemies without manufacturing internal ones through such childish betrayals. Constantino’s stunt achieves nothing constructive. It doesn’t win arguments, persuade voters, or advance policy. Instead, it hands ammunition to the left, who thrive on portraying conservatives as fractured and unreliable. Loyalty isn’t blind agreement—it’s the maturity to handle disputes without public humiliation. When one side lowers the temperature by seeking private resolution, the decent response is reciprocity, not escalation.

This incident should serve as a wake-up call. Figures who treat allies this way—hanging up on humble outreach and then airing dirty laundry—reveal motivations far removed from genuine patriotism. They prioritize personal brand, grudges, or niche grudges over the hard work of building a united front. The right cannot afford such unreliable actors if it hopes to reclaim ground lost to years of leftist dominance.

Ultimately, Constantino’s lack of loyalty isn’t just disappointing; it’s disqualifying. In a movement fighting for freedom, family, and national revival, character matters as much as rhetoric. Betraying a private gesture of dialogue exposes a hollow core. True conservatives deserve better than commentators who talk tough but fold on basic decency when it counts. The path forward requires rejecting this kind of petty disloyalty and demanding honor from those who claim to lead the charge. Anything less dooms the cause to endless, self-inflicted wounds.
