The Messages, the Banker, and the Blocked Inquiry

In October 2023, less than a year after leaving the Bolsonaro government as Minister of Communications, Fábio Faria met Daniel Vorcaro, then controller of Banco Master, at an Esfera Brasil event in Paris. Within two weeks, WhatsApp conversations recovered by the Federal Police show Faria already coordinating meetings between the banker and high-level Brazilian authorities.
In one exchange, Faria tells Vorcaro that he has locked in Davi Alcolumbre (then former Senate president, now current Senate and Congress president) and Rodrigo Pacheco for a Tuesday meeting. He adds that he also invited Supreme Court Justice Dias Toffoli. The key line: “Davi tá louco perguntando se as Suíças vão vir. Se der vms trazer.” (“Davi is crazy asking if the Swiss ones are coming. If it works out we’ll bring them.”) Vorcaro replies that they will come. Faria also mentions wanting to visit the bank the following Monday with partners from his office.
Reports from Fatos Online and piauí interpret “Suíças” as a reference to Swiss (or foreign) women for private encounters, part of a broader pattern in which Faria acted as a political bridge for Vorcaro. Pacheco has denied attending any meeting with Vorcaro. Alcolumbre’s office did not respond to inquiries about the encounter when contacted by piauí.
The relationship moved quickly into business. In February 2024, Faria sold a 240 MW wind energy project in Galinhos, Rio Grande do Norte, to Vorcaro-linked interests for R$67.5 million while retaining a 10% stake. Sector specialists consulted by piauí estimated the project’s value at that stage closer to R$13 million. Additional messages and documents show Faria traveling on Vorcaro’s private jet and staying in accommodations paid by the banker.
Banco Master later became the center of a major scandal involving alleged fraud, inflated assets, and massive exposure for the Fundo Garantidor de Créditos. Vorcaro was arrested. Messages from his devices form part of ongoing Federal Police investigations.
Against this backdrop, Davi Alcolumbre has repeatedly refused to read the formal request to install a mixed parliamentary inquiry (CPMI) into the Master case, even though multiple requests have gathered the required signatures from deputies and senators. He has described the push for the CPMI as electoral grandstanding and argued that the judiciary and other agencies are already investigating. Critics, including lawmakers from both government and opposition benches, have linked his resistance to the sensitive material in Vorcaro’s phones, including the conversations involving Alcolumbre himself. Alcolumbre has strongly denied receiving any payments from Vorcaro and has rejected related reports as false.
Fábio Faria, now involved with SBT News (part of the Silvio Santos group, as he is married to Patrícia Abravanel), has stated that he met Vorcaro after leaving public office, that he has no institutional relationship with Banco Master, and that he never discussed judicial matters with Supreme Court justices on Vorcaro’s behalf.
The combination of documented messages arranging high-level access, the explicit reference to “Suíças,” rapid multimillion-real private deals, and the continued blockage of a parliamentary inquiry into the same bank makes this one of the more explosive threads in the Master scandal. The Federal Police material remains under investigation; no final judicial conclusions on the specific political contacts have been reached as of early August 2026.
This is the core of what has been publicly reported. It is serious because it involves a former cabinet minister, the current president of the Senate, a Supreme Court justice’s name, and a banker whose institution is under heavy scrutiny—all tied together by private chats recovered by investigators.
