The Orlando Buccaneers showcased an impressive performance in their final match of the 2024 season at home, defeating Marumo Gallants 8-1 to secure a well-deserved victory. The second half at Orlando Stadium was filled with goals as the home team earned three crucial points in the Betway Premiership.
It was a thrilling return to league action for the Soweto Giants, as they overcame delays and a strong first-half showing from the visitors to achieve their largest win of the season so far. The match started perfectly for the hosts, with Deon Hotto setting up Kenneth Nthatheni for an early goal after just a few seconds.
After a brief interruption due to bad weather, the Buccaneers scored again in the 10th minute through Relebohile Mofokeng, although it was disallowed for offside despite replays suggesting otherwise. The visitors managed to equalize through Gabadinho Mhango, but were unable to create clear chances after that.
The second half was a different story, as the Buccaneers quickly took control with Tshegofatso Mabasa scoring two goals in quick succession. Deano van Rooyen and Thalente Mbatha also found the back of the net, with Mbatha scoring twice to extend their lead to six goals.
Mofokeng was brought down in the final moments of the match, earning a penalty which Boitumelo Radiopane converted to make it 8-1. The Buccaneers ended the game with a dominant performance, spreading holiday cheer with their impressive victory on Christmas Eve.
