The Orlando Pirates Football Club has officially announced the departure of Sandile Mthethwa, a defender. Both parties have mutually agreed to part ways to allow Mthethwa to join a club of his choosing. At 27 years old, Mthethwa is in his prime, and although the coaching staff wanted him to stay, they couldn’t guarantee him regular playing time. Mthethwa first joined the club in 2016 as a young player after being discovered at a youth tournament in KZN. He was one of three players identified at the tournament, alongside Thobela Sikhakhane and Brian Hlongwa. Mthethwa later captained the first Project X Tour to the UK and led the MultiChoice Diski Challenge squad before being promoted to the first team, where he played in more than 20 official matches for the club. He will be remembered for his professionalism and dedication. We wish him the best in his future endeavors. Thank you, Sandile!
In addition, the Club has also finalized an agreement with Sekhukhune United for the transfer of Katlego Otladisa. The 28-year-old will join Babina Noko on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
