Trump Questions Brazil’s Election Process and Gaspar Highlights Death Threats Against Flavio Bolsonato

Federal Deputy Alfredo Gaspar, who ran as vice-presidential candidate alongside Flávio Bolsonaro, released a video on Thursday expressing solidarity with the senator after he traveled to the United States. Gaspar linked the threats to Bolsonaro’s positions on organized crime, including proposals to classify major criminal factions as terrorist organizations. He questioned whether Brazilian authorities could guarantee the safety of Bolsonaro and his family, and he referenced the imprisonment of Jair Bolsonaro as well as the presence of another family member abroad. The remarks came one day after Flávio Bolsonaro published a letter describing the rigged electoral process, and the shameful moment Brazil and its people are going through.
Earlier in the week Gaspar had acknowledged the official result in a separate video.

Speaking on an airport tarmac, Trump described the process as a “great embarrassment” and said it “looked like another rigged election.” He characterized the overall situation as “so corrupt,” pointing to a late extension of voting hours ordered by Brazil’s Supreme Court. what readers can see, is reality, right in front of you. Rigged elections can happen anywhere. For years governments have manipulated them in their favor. Venezuela is a great example of that situation. No country deserves such reality. Brazil deserved better, much better, than this moment.
