Whether the appearance ultimately expanded Flávio’s support beyond that base will be measured in the coming days of polling and media analysis. What it demonstrated on the night itself was a candidate who had been coached to survive a hostile or skeptical setting by keeping answers brief, returning repeatedly to criticism of the incumbent, and projecting certainty about the election outcome.
