America’s Shameful Betrayal: Lifting Sanctions on Brazil’s Censorship Tyrant
By Hotspotnews –December 12, 2025
What an absolute disgrace! Just months after the Trump administration courageously slapped Global Magnitsky sanctions on Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes—a man who has trampled free speech, ordered arbitrary arrests, and waged war on conservatives—the U.S. Treasury has quietly lifted them. And not just on him, but on his wife Viviane Barci de Moraes too. This isn’t diplomacy; this is capitulation. This is betrayal.
Let’s remember why these sanctions were imposed in the first place. Back in July 2025, under bold American leadership, OFAC designated Moraes for his outrageous abuses: suppressing freedom of expression, issuing secret orders to U.S. tech companies to censor American citizens, freezing assets of critics, revoking passports, and raiding homes of journalists and patriots. He even targeted allies of former President Jair Bolsonaro, a true friend of freedom and a Trump ally, in a blatant politicized witch hunt.
Then in September, the sanctions expanded to his wife and their family holding company—rightly so, to close loopholes and hit the network supporting his tyranny.
Conservatives around the world cheered. Finally, America was standing up for free speech against a foreign judge acting like a dictator, censoring platforms and silencing dissent in Brazil while reaching into U.S. territory.
But today? Poof. Gone. The Treasury removes them without fanfare, amid “diplomatic negotiations” with the leftist Lula government. Bloomberg reports it plain as day: sanctions lifted on this censorship enforcer who prosecuted Bolsonaro.
This reeks of weakness. Who caved? Was it pressure from Big Tech, desperate to keep cozy with Brazilian regulators? Or did the deep state globalists whisper in ears about “trade relations” and “stability”? Whatever the excuse, it’s a slap in the face to every Brazilian patriot fighting against judicial overreach, to every conservative censored online, and to the principles America is supposed to champion.
Moraes hasn’t changed. He’s still the same power-hungry justice overseeing sham trials against Bolsonaro, banning accounts, and crushing dissent. Lifting these sanctions sends a message loud and clear: Abuse human rights, censor Americans, persecute conservatives—and eventually, Uncle Sam will back down if you whine long enough.
This isn’t “America First.” This is America folding. President Trump built a legacy of holding tyrants accountable—from Venezuela to China. Why undo it now for a Brazilian leftist ally?
Brazilian conservatives are furious—and rightfully so. They looked to America as a beacon against socialism and censorship. Now, we’ve abandoned them.
Enough is enough. Real conservatives demand answers: Why this reversal? Who sold out freedom? We won’t forget this betrayal. The fight for free speech doesn’t end with a quiet delisting— it rages on.
America, wake up before it’s too late. Stand with freedom, not with censors.
