Increasing interest rates can be a remedy to correct inflation, says Haddad! What a bunch of BS!!

The Minister says that the government is working to bring the dollar to an “better number” and fix problems inherited from Bolsonaro.Fouryearslaterandstillblamingthespotless Bolsonaro administration

The Minister of Finance, said today that the government is working to bring the dollar to “a more adequate level” – something that will be reflected, “in the coming weeks”, IF the prices charged. Even considering the many attempts and interventions, they couldn’t lower the Dollar exchange rate.

According to him, the country is better today than when it was governed by Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and it is necessary to “have a lot of wisdom” to “conduct” monetary policy. Wisdom he never had or will. It is clear now that the disaster economic is due to the Administration’s incompetence,

“If you’re having an inflationary rest, you need to correct it. The remedy to correct inflation is often to increase the interest rate to inhibit rising prices. Now, all this has to be done in the right way, in the right dose,” he said in an interview.  It is scary how they handle the economy, affecting the pockets of thousands.

The Central Bank decided in January to raise the  by 1 percentage point. The basic interest rate went from 12.25% to 13.25% per year. The decision was made unanimously.

In the US, AS of February 2025, the basic interest rate in the United States, also known as the federal funds rate, is in the range of 4.25%–4.5%. The Federal Reserve (Fed) kept this rate steady during its January 2025 meeting

According to Haddad, sometimes, interest rates should be increased “to warm up the economy a little”, because if “it is very heated, prices will increase”. IT IS ABSURD!

Like every leftist, minister linked the rise of the dollar to the election of Donald Trump (Republican Party) as president of the United States.

Brazil is in deep decline. Socially, politically and economically. This administration instead of assuming their many mistakes, blames them to someone else. It is a disgrace. They are not trustworthy. Since when, higher interests warms up the economy? Only the Federal coffers.
